Construction Laborer

This position requires skills necessary for construction and maintenance of a 6,800-mile pipeline water distribution system serving a 17-county area. This position is physically demanding and requires travel and work in adverse weather conditions.


Assist with construction and maintenance of the pipeline water distribution including, but not limited to:

o Assembling pipe (pvc, ductile, poly, copper) o Installing and rebuilding meter pits
o Setting meter pit PRV’s to proper pressure o Taking water samples

o Flushing lines
o Installing valves, flush hydrants, and yard hydrants o Fixing waterline leaks
o Installing drain lines
o Rebuilding vaults
o Exercising valves
o General mechanical work

  •  Follow all safety protocols.
  • Other duties as necessary or assigned.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Additional education in construction trades is preferred. Experience:

Two to three years in a similar position preferred. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of construction, excavation, and pipe repair techniques.
  • Excellent and effective communication skills in order to work with the general public and co-
  • workers.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Class A CDL and current medical exam card.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. routinely and repeatedly; squat, bend, and stand for hours.
  • Ability to travel as needed and work long hours in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outside of normal hours as part of the on-call rotation.
  • Normal work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and on-call as scheduled.

WTP Operator - Weekend Shift

SUMMARY:  This position requires skills necessary to maintain the 12+ mgd surface Water Treatment Plant, Intake Pump Station, and generation sites.


Ø  Responsible for running the WTP at nights and weekends.

Ø  Responsible for making daily rounds at the WTP and Intake Pump Station to check equipment, develop and maintain a list of items that require attention.

Ø  Responsible for promptly reporting to the WTP Manager any changes in the water parameters,  water quality standards, and any emergency conditions that may occur at the WTP.

Ø  Assist with plant staff in developing and improving trouble-shooting skills and safety procedures.

Ø  Performs various laboratory test and quality control monitoring to ensure compliance with the water quality standards.

Ø  Maintains files and records as required.

Ø  Ability to share work responsibility for shift coverage with other WTP Operators.

Ø  Follow all safety protocols.

Ø  Other duties as necessary or assigned.


Ø  The schedule of this position will be determined by the WTP Manager based on the needs of the plant and may vary during winter, spring, summer and fall seasons depending on peak water needs and maintenance needs.

Ø  The WTP is operated on a round the clock 24-hour per day with plant operators and relief operators working scheduled rotating 10 hour shifts with on-call/or 12-hour weekend shifts, with rotating holidays.

Ø  Those working nights and weekends are required to work alone.

Ø  The Plant cell phone must be carried with you at all times.



Ø  High school diploma required.


Ø  Experience is a plus; we are willing to provide training to the right motivated applicant.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Ø  Must be able to obtain Class I Water Treatment Certification within 1-2 years, Class II within 3-4 years, and Class III within 4-6 years.

Ø  Must have good interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work with all employees.

Ø  Must have good computer skills.

Ø  Must have the physical ability to climb steps, ladders, tanks, and towers routinely and repeatedly; squat, bend, and stand for hours.
